Human Resources Director, The Vita Group
Can you tell us about your role and what your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
I am the HR Director for the Technical & Flooring Division of The Vita Group. Beyond being accountable for the Human Resources and Safety strategy for the division, I have the responsibility for developing and implementing Vita’s Diversity & Inclusion program, as part of our ESG Strategy.
Can you explain what your company does and how it fits within the materials supply chain?
The Vita Group is an advanced materials manufacturer in the polyurethane foam industry. Vita operates across three market segments: comfort, technical and flooring, providing solutions and applications (both B2B and direct to retailers). Vita works in partnership with material suppliers such as Dow to advance the industry through collaborative innovation
What are you most excited about learning at Foam Expo Europe and Adhesives & Bonding Expo Europe 2022?
With being accountable for the people agenda at Vita I am intrigued to understand how industry trends will inform future organisations. And what operating models, cultures and skills will be required to deliver business success and to realise our ESG ambition and obligations.
Can you tell us about the topic you will be discussing at the event in November and why it is important for the audience to attend?
Organisations often only consider the ‘E’ of the ESG agenda. Yet, at Vita, we believe that the ‘S’ is equally important. As we strive towards net-zero, successful implementation of our sustainability goals requires our people to be on board and energised. The presentation will consider some essential aspects of focusing on the ‘S’ agenda. At The Vita Group, we see our responsibility to create a diverse, representative, and inclusive workforce as an essential commitment to our employees and wider society. Delegates will leave with a better understanding of why it’s critical for an organisation to focus on the ‘S’, to achieve successful implementation of their ESG agenda and overall business goals.
If you could have an all-expenses paid holiday anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I have been fortunate to travel the world throughout my career, but I would return to Japan. I am fascinated by Japan’s unique culture and how this influences society. The sushi is also amazing!
